The further adventures of a horse with thin soles

As regular blog readers will know, Zan has been a remarkable horse to have at Rockley not least because he has made incredible changes to his feet in the 6 months that he has been here.
When he first came out of shoes his soles were so thin that he couldn't walk even on smooth tarmac comfortably and treading on a tiny stone was enough to cause his soles to bruise. There are photos of his progress in this post: http://rockleyfarm.blogspot.com/2011/09/horse-of-week-zan-flat-footed-thin.html
What a transformation he has achieved - here is a photo from just a few days ago of Zan on the sort of terrain that he now covers comfortably and happily - I don't have any photos of him going up this hill because he decided he would trot and was going too fast :-)
He also regularly does 15-20 miles of roadwork each week on his smart new hooves and as long as his work levels and good nutrition are maintained he should continue to go from strength to strength.

What a clever chap - and proof that even the weakest, rubbishiest feet can grow more capable.
